Child & Adolescent Therapy

Parenting can feel especially complex when a child has experienced early difficulties that continue to show up in their behaviour and relationships. This page outlines how therapeutic parenting sessions can offer space for support, reflection, and guidance.

Parenting a child who has experienced trauma, loss, or early adversity is one of the hardest things a person can do. The children who need the most from us are often the ones whose behaviour makes it hardest to give it and that is exhausting, isolating, and at times completely overwhelming.

These sessions are for you, the parent or carer, not for your child. We don’t need your child in the room. Instead, this is space for us to think together about what you’re seeing at home, what your child’s behaviour might be communicating underneath the surface, and what you can do differently to meet them where they are.

Therapeutic parenting sessions can be booked as a one-off, as a short block of sessions around a specific challenge, or on an ongoing basis. Some parents find they want a check-in every few weeks; others prefer a more intensive burst of support at a particularly difficult time. We work to whatever rhythm makes sense for your family.

Sessions are available online or in person in North Shields.
