Children and young people don’t always have the words for what they’re experiencing. I work with children and young people aged 6 to 18 using a range of creative, play-based and talking approaches, tailored to their age, their needs, and what feels comfortable for them.
I have extensive experience supporting children and young people with anxiety, trauma, loss, disrupted attachment, identity, self-esteem, school difficulties, family change, and more. No two children are the same, and my approach always begins with getting to know yours.
Where a child or young person would prefer their own individual space, I absolutely respect and work with that. However, wherever possible, I find that involving a parent or carer in some part of the process makes a real difference. Children shouldn’t have to hold things on their own once they leave the therapy room, and when the adults around them understand what’s going on, and feel equipped to respond, it creates a much more containing experience for the child overall. How that involvement looks in practice will depend on the child’s age, their preferences, and the nature of the work, and we will always figure that out together at the start.
